The space at 17 Fort York Boulevard has experienced a lot of news recently, leaving the CityPlace community with mixed feelings, but a brand new concept called Charlie Social House will debut here later this year.
Earlier this year, it was announced that the beloved Fox and Fiddle will face an impending closure, marking the second Fox and Fiddle location in Toronto to close within the space of a week, according to BlogTO. Thankfully, the unfortunate news was followed by a glimmer of hope, as the parent company, Reign Company, announced that a brand-new day-to-night social club called Charlie Social House would be taking over the space. While the restaurant group initially hoped to open the new concept in April or May, they have faced delays and pushed the opening of Charlie Social House beyond summer 2025.
“We saw an exciting opportunity to create something truly transformative that aligns with our vision for the future of hospitality in Toronto,” Reign’s Chief Marketing Officer, Syed Sohail, tells BlogTO, adding that the group’s vision was to create a “cornerstone of the CityPlace community and Toronto’s social scene.”
With the news of the delayed opening breaking recently, Reign Company has decided to reopen Fox CityPlace on March 26 so the neighbourhood can have a go-to watering hole throughout the sunny months. Fox CityPlace is expected to remain open throughout the summer season before closing again to re-emerge as Charlie Social House finally.
“Summer in Toronto is too special to miss out on,” Sohail said. “Our guests deserve a place to gather, unwind, and enjoy the season—and we’re thrilled to welcome everyone back, even if just for a little while.”
Reign Company is responsible for several successful ventures through its hospitality division, including Fox on John, a modern British pub, Touti Café, a gelato spot, and Junior’s Burger Joint, a popular burger destination. In addition, Reign Hospitality also runs Chippy’s, a fish and chips restaurant, and Lola’s Lounge, a cozy lounge offering food and drinks.
