Soul Provisions, a popular soup-and-popsicle business in Oakwood Village, founded by entrepreneur Sara Schwartz Geller, is getting ready to reopen at a new location in Toronto at 397 Vaughan Rd.
After outgrowing its original space, the business closed its Vaughan Road location in late 2024. Known for its community-focused “Soupempathy” program, Soul Provisions is planning to reopen. However, the launch has been delayed due to a costly zoning process with the City of Toronto, which is expected to be resolved by July 2025, according to BlogTO. When it does reopen, customers can look forward to the same delicious soups and popsicles they’ve come to love.
In addition to the new storefront, Soul Provisions is launching a flagship factory at 68 Tycos Drive in North York, which will serve as a production facility and event space. Both locations will offer fresh challah and Friday goods from Essen by Barnstar Kitchen, marking the bakery’s Toronto debut. Meanwhile, Soul Pops remain available for purchase at The Company We Keep and La Spesa Market, with custom orders accepted for events.
Soul Provisions began as Toronto Soup Co. in 2018, aiming to provide homemade soups to those in need. The business expanded into a brick-and-mortar location in 2020, offering a combination of soups and artisanal popsicles. The menu features a variety of soups, including classics like chicken noodle and matzo ball, as well as international-inspired options like Chai Carrot Lentil and Caribbean corn soup. Popsicle flavours range from fruit-based to cocktail-inspired, with options like Pink Sangria and Kiwi Ginger Lemon Mint. The business also offers curated grocery items and hosts pop-up events.
