Ellie’s Urban Grill, a sports and entertainment eatery, is making its debut in Englewood, located at 1022 W. 63rd St.

This new restaurant will sit in an upcoming $5.3 million hub from E.G. Woode, a group of architects, designers, and entrepreneurs. The team is preparing to open this new restaurant hub in Fall 2023. In addition to housing the brand new Ellie’s Urban Grill, the space will also be occupied by Pass the Peas, a casual soul food restaurant, and a test kitchen, which will give restauranteurs space to operate a pop-up restaurant. Before committing to a brick-and-mortar, the vendors will have 30 days to share a range of cuisines with the community.

When the new entertainment restaurant opens, customers can expect all types of foods that are perfect for eating while watching a game, such as wings, salmon croquettes, and fried food. The main purpose of this restaurant is to create a destination to hang out with friends, watch sports, and eat wings. Ellie’s plans to staff the restaurant with local residents in an attempt to restore the workforce in the community. Finally, Ellie’s will host special events for local youth sports teams and sponsor equipment, food, and other items for the youth.

“We want to use these three businesses in this facility as a means to increase the number of active casual dining restaurants on 63rd Street and all through Englewood,” Deon Lucas, architect, and leader at E.G. Woode, tells Block Club Chicago. “We hope that it will show and demonstrate that there is a need and desire for people to have these spaces in Englewood, and it will encourage other restauranteurs who might not even want to be a part of E.G. Woode to decide to establish themselves here.”
