A new bar and community spot for book lovers is coming to Corktown.

Sip-N-Read is planned for a space at 1620 Michigan Avenue. Guests will be able to enjoy wine and mocktails while they browse a curated selection of books. The concept is designed to be a “cozy retreat” where “books and wine come together in perfect harmony,” creating an environment where people can unwind and connect. They also plan to offer community events and book clubs.

The concept is the next chapter for Tamela Todd, a published author and mental health coach.

Detroit-based firm Infuz Architects is working on bringing the design of Sip-N-Read to life. The 2,400-square-foot space is expected to feature a bar area, open seating and floor-to-ceiling bookshelves.

Sip-N-Read is expected to open in spring 2025.
