A new convenience mart is in the works for Oakland. City public records indicate that King Market is under review for clearance to operate at 1226 International Boulevard, across from Oakland Fire Station No. 4.

The owners of King Market confirmed with What Now Phoenix that they are still in the process of finalizing the paperwork in order to start their business. If all is successful, they say that they hope to open within the next couple of months.

When King Market is up and running, you can expect a brand new neighborhood market equipped with everything you need in a pinch. According to the public record, they plan to sell a plethora of convenience items including groceries, coffee, snack foods, soft drinks, ice cream, over the counter medicines, newspapers, magazines, clothes, toiletries and more.

Currently, there doesn’t appear to be too many drugstores around this harbor-side neighborhood. There is a Walgreens in Merritt, while the closest CVS stores are in downtown and Lower Dimond. Soon, King Market will be there to fill in the gaps. Stay tuned.
