Coffeebar is preparing to open a new location at 170 State St. in Los Altos, continuing the coffee company’s expansion across the Peninsula. The company’s website lists the Los Altos Bakery location as coming in September 2026, while a September report from The Almanac places the opening in early October.
Coffeebar was founded in Truckee in 2010 by Greg Buchheister, a former competitive skier who developed the concept around Italian-inspired coffee culture. The company has since expanded into the Bay Area, with locations in Menlo Park, Redwood City and Sunnyvale.
The Los Altos location will serve classic coffee beverages including lattes, cappuccinos and cold brew. Seasonal drinks listed in recent coverage include a pistachio rose mocha, marzipan latte and yuzu caramel latte.
The new shop is planned as more than a café: the Los Altos location will eventually become the company’s main pastry production facility for its Bay Area stores. During the initial soft-opening period, pastries will be supplied from the Menlo Park location.
Coffeebar’s website lists the Los Altos shop at State Street Market, where the business will operate alongside other food and retail concepts. City records also document tenant-improvement work for a Coffeebar café at the address.
The opening will give Coffeebar another Peninsula location while establishing a production role for the Los Altos shop. The company currently roasts its coffee beans at a facility in Reno, according to The Almanac.
