It’s been said that America runs on Dunkin. Franchisee, Shah Management Co. intends to prove that Philadelphia is no exception by opening two new Dunkin Donuts within the next year, reports The Philadelphia Business Journal.
The two latest Dunkin locations at 1204 Chestnut Street and 1001 Chestnut Street were selected owing to their proximity to Thomas Jefferson Hospital. Shah Management’s director of operations, Brian McCauley explains the motivation for the new sites’ locations as attracting employees and patients.
McCauley expresses optimism for the two new locations, stating “”We believe the neighborhood is safe, so we will continue to operate in the neighborhood.”
The locations are in active development. McCauley anticipated 1204 Chestnut, slated to occupy 1,700 square-feet, opening within six months and 1001 Chestnut Street greeting customers in approximately eight months. The 10th and Chestnut location should take up 2,400 square-feet in space formerly committed to a Starbucks.
Shah Management is aiming to open several more Dunkin locations throughout the city. McCauley says that the franchise is hoping to open several smaller bakeries across Philadelphia, saying “”We feel that there’s great opportunity to add a lot of these smaller locations within the city that will provide a service for more Dunkin’ customers.”
Dunkin Donuts has been a pastry staple since it first opened its doors in Massachusetts in 1950. The wildly successful franchise has ballooned to include more than 13,200 locations worldwide.
While Dunkin’s greatest draw is, of course, the donuts, the chain also sells muffins, bagels, and breakfast sandwiches. The eatery’s popular coffee keeps comes in a wide variety of flavors and styles.
