After years of delays, professional skater Tony Hawk and chef Andrew Bachelier are getting closer to opening Chick & Hawk in Leucadia at 145 Leucadia Blvd.

Previously, What Now San Diego reported on the co-owners sharing an update on the much-anticipated restaurant, which was initially announced in 2021. At the time of the report in late 2022, Hawk and Bachelier hoped to open its doors in Summer 2023. Now that two summers have come and gone, many curious followers have wondered if this concept would ever open. The team has faced delays because of problems with the city and the permitting process.

Now, it appears the owners of Chick & Hawk have some good news for its fans: they have finally been approved to start construction, according to San Diego Magazine. Click & Hawk is now expected to open in about six months. Hopefully, this will be the last time the team has to provide an update on the opening, and North County residents can soon have a taste of these delicious fried chicken sandwiches.

While this concept was announced over three years ago, the team behind Chick & Hawk has stayed relevant by participating in pop-ups and other local events. Last month, the eatery joined Travis Swikard at Callie to showcase what will be offered at the new restaurant. Customers were given a chance to try several items from the upcoming menu, including a must-try chicken sandwich that has food critics raving.
