Bhatti Himalayan Grill, a brand-new Indian restaurant with an expansive menu, is preparing to debut in Serra Mesa at 3737 Murphy Canyon Road, Suite F.
The new restaurant is set to move into the former home of Smashburger in the strip mall at the corner of Aero Drive and Murphy Canyon Road, according to a recent liquor license application. Owner Murari Timalsina, who also owns three locations of Himalayan Taste, tells What Now San Diego that he hopes to open this location at the beginning of the new year, offering a variety of authentic Indian cuisine curated by senior chef Valerian Dsouza.
This is a massive accomplishment for Timalsina and his team. Dsouza, for example, is from India and has worked in India, then went to Kuwait to work in an Indian restaurant, and later worked as a chef in Israel for an Indian restaurant, according to Timalsina. The chef has been in the United States for almost 15 years, working as an Indian chef in California. Timalsina, who has also been in the United States for about the same time, has worked as an Indian chef in France at a local Indian restaurant, in Dubai at an Indian restaurant, and in Nepal as an Indian chef.
Now the two are getting ready to launch a brand new concept. Bhatti Himalayan Grill will have a massive menu full of authentic flavors, starting with appetizers, soups, and salads. The restaurant will also have tandoori specialties, as well as entrees that are vegetarian or made with chicken, lamb, seafood, or rice. Bhatti Himalayan Grill will also have Indo-Chinese options, with a section for vegetarians. Customers can also expect various Tandoori breads, sides, desserts, and beverages, including a Bhatti coffee. Those dining during lunch should know the restaurant offers a daily lunch buffet special from 11 am to 2 pm, which is all you can eat for only $14.99.
