pOpshelf, the new retail store concept from Dollar General, is starting to take off with several locations in the works. The brand’s first stores in North Texas will open mid-April in McKinney and Allen. Two other Lone Star State pOpshelf locations are also set to open soon in Houston and San Antonio. The stores will open at:
- Allen – 190 E Stacy Rd, suite 2314 in The Village at Allen
- McKinney – 2821 Craig Dr in Eldorado Plaza
- Houston – 5634 Farm to Market 1960 Rd W
- San Antonio – 4351 Thousand Oaks Dr
And here’s where pOpshelf is headed for next in North Texas:
Fort Worth
Per a recent state project filing, pOpshelf will open a Fort Worth location later this year. Coming to Presidio Town Crossing at 2253 Porter Creek Dr, the forthcoming store will move into an existing 12,000-square-foot space. Renovation work is expected to start in April and be completed by June.
Rockwall
Earlier this month, Weitzman announced that it represented the brand in a Rockwall lease. Coming to Rockwall Market Center at 2707 Market Center Dr, the forthcoming pOpshelf store will occupy a space of 9,400 square feet. According to the announcement, Weitzman representatives are working on additional Dallas-Fort Worth locations for pOpshelf.
Watauga
According to lease intel, a 9,373-square-foot space was leased in February at 7608 Denton Hwy in Watauga. Apart of Watauga Pavilion, pOpshelf will occupy suite 3. It is expected to open mid-April.
“The company also plans to open new stores in the state in the coming months, including potential locations in Frisco, Rockwall, and Prosper where we are currently finalizing due diligence phases,” a spokesperson for the brand shared with What Now Dallas.
First launched in fall 2020, the first two pOpshelf stores opened near Nashville, Tennessee in late October 2020. At the end of 2021, Dollar General announced that it would be accelerating pOpshelf store openings with the goal of having approximately 1,000 stores by the end of 2025. It further announced that it would be expanding the brand into Texas with the first stores slated to open in the early part of 2022. It looks like that plan is right on track.
Each new store is expected to create up to 15 new jobs in a retail environment that is all about making shopping exciting and fun for everyday purchases.
