Baton Collective, who opened Foxtail Coffee shops in Ada and Holland, is planning to open more locations in the next six months. A new location has been proposed in Grand Rapids at 1200 Wealthy St. SE near Fuller Avenue. across the street from Tanger Outlet. The location is now listed on the Florida-based coffee chain’s website as coming soon.

The location is currently in the design phase and is anticipated to open in Spring 2025, according to a story reported by News 8. The Grand Rapids Grand Rapids Historic Preservation Commission approved the request last month and will review exterior sign installation plans in its December meeting.

“We’re working with the city and the historic society to make sure that it is just a great spot for people to come and for the community to meet, and that it maintains the character of old Wealthy Street,” Samuel Nichols, Baton Collective’s director of business operations, told News 8.

The Wealthy Street property was previously occupied by a Little Ceasars restaurant. The 1,900-square-foot historic building was built in 1925 and is part of the Wealthy Theater Historic District in Eastown. Plans submitted indicates the coffee shop will hold approximately 30 guests indoors and 40 outdoors, with a garage door that can be opened during warmer seasons facing Wealthy Street. Outdoor seating will be placed on two patios with lawn games on the lot for people to enjoy.

“Foxtail Coffee’s focus is on great coffee and community. The spaces that we’re putting Foxtail Coffee in are built to be community meeting centers and hubs. We want them to be very comfortable spaces where people can have coffee, stick around, and have a good conversation,” said Nicoles in an email.

Baton Collective is also near completion of its development for a Foxtail Coffee in Byron Center and hopes to open that location in the next week or so.
