Old Hickory Inn Barbecue is getting ready to bring the smoke to 9601 Hillcroft St. in the Meyerland area. Owner Ted Karnezis confirmed the news, signaling a new chapter for the well-known local brand that has built a loyal following over the years for its classic Texas-style barbecue and down-home atmosphere.

According to city permits, the new restaurant will move into a currently vacant lease space and undergo a full remodel. The renovation project is set to transform 4,001 square feet of interior space, with a listed estimated cost of $280,000. Plans classify the build as a renovation and alteration, which means the bones of the existing structure will stay intact, but it will be reworked to match the Old Hickory Inn look and feel.

The move suggests a continued focus on offering barbecue in a casual, welcoming setting. The Hillcroft location sits in a busy commercial pocket with strong residential traffic nearby, making it a potentially smart spot for the brand to grow into.

Construction is expected to begin in November 2025, with a projected completion date in May 2026.
