Padel Pals, a new indoor racquet sports facility, is set to open later this year at 4945 S. 71st Street in Mesa.
The startup aims to bring padel, a growing racquet sport, to the East Valley, offering players a full-service venue focused on play, community, and convenience, according to the Daily Independent. The Mesa location will include seven indoor padel courts and one pickleball court, along with co-working spaces, a player lounge with food and beverage offerings, a Kid’s Zone, pre- and post-game areas, and a pro shop. Padel Pals is expected to open in Fall 2025.
Padel Pals was founded by Armando Acevedo, Carlos Pereyra, and professional boxer Oscar Valdez. The team is positioning the facility as a multipurpose space for players of all levels to train, socialize, and compete. In addition to on-court activity, the food and beverage offerings in the lounge are expected to serve as a central feature of the space, allowing players and guests to relax before or after matches. The founders aim to establish a strong community presence by offering expert coaching, recreational and competitive play, as well as social opportunities both on and off the court.
Padel, initially developed in Mexico, is played in an enclosed court with glass walls and uses solid racquets. It is typically played in doubles and features a tennis-style scoring system. Padel Pals selected the East Valley for its rapid population growth and accessibility to nearby communities, including Eastmark, Gilbert, Chandler, and Tempe.
While many parts of Phoenix are focusing on the rise of pickleball, with new concepts like PURE Pickleball & Padel in Scottsdale, Mesa Padel Club, and The Pad in Tucson, Padel Pals aims to stand out by offering a unique indoor padel experience. By combining competitive play, community, and social spaces, Padel Pals hopes to create a one-of-a-kind destination for racquet sports enthusiasts in the East Valley.
