With the closure of a West Village bar, a new location looks to be coming soon.
It was recently reported that Metropolitan Bar and Kitchen will be closing its doors at 8047 Agnes Street on Oct. 4. Following this, owner Rick Stanza will open a new location in the Detroit area that has not yet been finalized. A new concept inside the current restaurant space will also be announced in the near future.
Metropolitan Bar and Kitchen opened in November 2021 in a former pharmacy, and became a popular spot for drinks and pizza in West Village. New York-style pizzas, burgers, salads and appetizers are offered along with a full bar inside. It is also a store that sells food and drinks like craft beers.
Stanza told What Now Detroit the new location will be a scaled-down restaurant. Their New York-style pizzas will still be offered, but there will be no table service.
“It’ll be a smaller, more carryout version,” Stanza said.
Staff are currently looking for a new space within West Village, and the Grosse Pointe cities as well. The Parker Durand Building at 8001 Kercheval is also a desirable location, according to The Detroit News article. Nothing is signed at the moment.
While a new space is being sought after, Metropolitan Bar and Kitchen will still be serving customers. Now through Oct. 4, the current location will still be open for dine-in and carryout service 4 p.m.-10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
