Shortly after a Turkish restaurant in Ann Arbor closes its doors, a new brunch spot is going in its place.

It was recently reported by MLive that Solana will be opening at 120 E Liberty Street this fall. This follows Turkish Village Cafe’s last day of operations being on Sept. 22. Owner Bashar Alasad told What Now Detroit he is hoping to open by late October or early November.

Alasad said the new restaurant will serve American breakfast including eggs benedict, griddles and french toast. He wants to put an emphasis on locally sourced, gluten-free options. By making the menu more inclusive, he said it will be a “place for everyone.”

Turkish Village Cafe was only open for a month, replacing the former Avalon Cafe which is now at 224 S Main Street. It reportedly closed due to a lack of customers. The new location will be a change in concept, as it is a traditional American breakfast and brunch spot.

The restaurant will be going in next to Bakehouse 46, and across the street from RoosRoast Liberty and Cinnaholic. The location is just a few blocks from the University of Michigan, so Alasad expects students to be visiting when it is open.

Right now, construction is happening inside the space. He is planning to operate the restaurant 7 a.m.-3 p.m. every day, and the coffee bar will stay open until 10 p.m. For more information on the opening, visit their Instagram @solanaannarbor.
