Beloved Chicago eatery Bloom Plant Based Kitchen is set to close permanently on February 21, 2026. Through a social media post, the establishment extended a warm invitation to the local community to join them in celebrating the last few months before closure.
Chicago Plant Based Favorite Bloom to Shut Down
Bloom Plant Based Kitchen, a 100% vegan and gluten-free restaurant on North Milwaukee Avenue, has announced plans to close. The eatery focuses on a creative menu and appealing presentation. Several popular dishes include variety of salad, dumplings, and pastas. The menu also offers innovative plant-based desserts like Hibiscus Cheesecake and Waffle Sticks.
In an Instagram post, the team of the eatery shared the heartbreaking news of its closure, and wrote, “Bloom Plant Based Kitchen will say goodbye to its current home on February 21, 2026.”
It also added, “Until then, we’re here: cooking, serving, and celebrating this incredible family we’ve built together. If Bloom has meant something to you, we’d love for you to visit during this final season. Bring your people, share a meal, and help us close this chapter with love.’

Founded in 2021, Bloom is currently operated by Chef Rodolfo Cuadros of Amaru. In the post, the restaurant has not mentioned any official reason for its closing.
Community’s Response on Social Media

The news came as a surprise to many of Bloom’s vegan diners and longtime fans. Loyal customers shared an outpouring of memories and messages in the comments.
“This is devastating! Bloom is my number one favorite restaurant, without a doubt. My husband and I went on all our best dates there, celebrated our engagement at Bloom, and it’s where we always bring our guests that visit,” said one of the customers.
Another fan wished the restaurant well in its future endeavors and wrote, “Bummer, but also sending good vibes that your new concept will be up and running and going well!“
The restaurant also shared that it plans to return soon with a new vegan concept.
