The praised metro Detroit BBQ spot has one more location in the works.

Bad Brad’s BBQ recently submitted a redevelopment liquor license for 345 E Nine Mile Road in Ferndale. This would be the company’s sixth location since debuting in New Baltimore. Owner Mike Pollard told What Now Detroit he is aiming to open the location by the end of the year or early 2027.

The chain first opened in 2009, since expanding to Shelby Township, Clinton Township, Orion Township and Livonia. Along with their full restaurants, the company also caters and hosts parties at their locations. Recently, Mashed magazine awarded Bad Brad’s with best brisket in Michigan.

“Home of Michigan’s best BBQ since 2009,” says the description on their Instagram page.

Menus are very similar at each location, with BBQ platters featuring meats like pulled pork, smoke-fried wings, Mexican style pork sausage and pulled chicken. Burgers, sandwiches and wood-fired pizzas are also served. Restaurants also feature a bar serving cocktails, margaritas and beers on tap.

Bad Brad’s BBQ will be on the north side of E Nine Mile Road, at the corner of Leland Street. This is not far from the Go Comedy! Improv Theater. What Now Detroit previously covered Balam Coffee and Wine opening a few storefronts down last August.
