After opening two food trucks in the Lansing area, a family is entering a new chapter for their businesses.
Lansing State Journal recently reported the team at Get Loaded and From Scratch food trucks are debuting a brick-and-mortar this summer at 2398 Jolly Road in Okemos. It will be called Get Loaded Kitchen, serving cuisine from both food trucks. An opening date is still being evaluated, but they are aiming for June or July.
The trucks are owned by local Bariaa Elbast, who first opened From Scratch eight years ago with her family, followed by the second concept in 2024. The From Scratch food truck specializes in Mediterranean dishes like chicken shawarma, gyros and falafel. At Get Loaded, options include their mac & cheese, nachos or fresh-cut fries, with styles like garlic parm, BBQ chicken and angry buffalo.
“What started as a family dream kind of came to fruition,” a representative from the company told What Now Detroit.
Get Loaded Kitchen will also have a few new options, like loaded spuds, baked potatoes and rice bowls. The staff wants to make this a Chipotle-style concept, also serving drinks like fresh-squeezed lemonades.
The brick-and-mortar is coming to the north side of Jolly Road, sharing the plaza with Cancun Mexican Grill and Valley Wings Okemos. This commercial area of the city is home to many other restaurants including Joe’s On Jolly, Backyard Bar and Ozzys Kabob. It is on the south side of Okemos, just off of Interstate 96.
