A major Vietnamese dining destination is headed to South Sacramento.
Local entrepreneur Huy Trieu, who owns several Sacramento-area Shun Fat (SF) Supermarket locations, is planning to open a new concept called Saigon Street Food Restaurant at 4582 Mack Rd in the South Center shopping mall, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.
The upcoming concept will combine two suites inside the shopping center into a sprawling 7,558-square-foot restaurant space.
While details remain limited for now, Trieu confirmed the news with What Now Sacramento, noting that the project is still in its very early phases. Plans have recently been submitted to the city and health department, she explained in an email, with construction and remodeling expected to begin once approvals are finalized.
“The plan was just submitted to the City and Health Dept,” Trieu shared. “Once approved for building, construction and remodeling will start… We will open the restaurant when it is all completed.”
She declined to share additional details at this time, and an official opening timeline and menu have not yet been announced. However, the restaurant’s name suggests a focus on classic Vietnamese street food fare.
Diners can likely expect staples such as pho, bánh mì, vermicelli bowls, and other fast-casual favorites inspired by the bustling food stalls of Saigon.
Once open, Saigon Street Food Restaurant will join a growing lineup of diverse eateries at the SF Supermarket-anchored South Center, including Taste of Angkor and Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen.
