Germantown foodies are getting a mouthful this Memorial Day weekend. Industry heavy hitters Andrew Ticer and Michael Hudman are opening not one but two new concepts in one convenient location, offering locals a delicious way to celebrate the holiday, reports local media outlet Memphis Flyer.
The duo are opening Rosie’s Tavern and Josephine Estelle at 6695 Poplar Avenue. Rosie’s will be a cocktail lounge and restaurant located on the second floor of the building while Josephine Estelle will be serving “an ode to Italian-American cuisine” on the ground floor.
Rosie’s will have a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for a drink and a bite. Hudman describes it by saying “[It’s] like you’re in a speakeasy without saying the word ‘speakeasy.’ It’s a place where you want to sit and hang out.” Guests will be able to dine on selections from a menu overseen by chef de cuisine Jaik Hunt which will include a raw bar, superior steaks, and an extremely memorable burger.
Josephine Estelle will be channeling Old World Italy-Hudman states “Obviously, we’re in Memphis. But we’re Italian. We want it to be like you’re in Tuscany. I think she deep-dove into that and she crushed it.”
As such, the restaurant will heavily feature that timeless staple of Italian cuisine-pasta. Ticer explains: “Our main focus is pastas. We finally got our dough room after all these years, and we’re super excited about that.”
In addition to being the main course, the pasta will be the star of the show-customers will be able to watch the dish being prepared through a window.
The dual concept will be Hudman and Ticer’s first endeavor in over six years and promises to be a momentous return to form for the pair. As Ticer states: “… it’s exciting..Like stepping into the building and having two totally different vibes that you can do the same night if you wanted to.”
