What started as a series of pop-ups has turned into a popular Ravenswood bakery.
Del Sur Bakery is temporarily closing their doors in Ravenswood at 4639 N Damen Avenue, per a recent report from Block Club Chicago. The bakery will close on June 14 so the staff can go through with construction on their larger space. Owner Justin Lerias is hoping to reopen his baked goods spot around July.
Del Sur features both a bakery and cafe menu, with pastries including a “turon danish” with caramelized banana jam, a toasted rice croissant and their pina colada muffin with crushed pineapple and desiccated coconut. For the cafe, drinks like espressos, house-made chai and their volition teas are served, with flavors like red, green, herbal and Chinese matcha.
“Del Sur unifies the flavors of the Philippines with timeless Midwestern techniques, creating memorable pastries and specialty beverages in a space where tradition, creativity and community thrive,” says the description on their website.
Lerias plans on adding more seating and additional space for production. This could accommodate local businesses wanting to host pop-ups at the bakery. He has not yet updated the community on the renovations on social media. When What Now Chicago reached out for comment on the renovations, Lerias was not available.
The bakery is close to the Damen CTA Brown Line stop, on the east side of N Damen Avenue. It also shares the building with Siam Country Thai restaurant. This is only a few blocks from Lincoln Square’s Center.
More updates on the reopening date can be found on the business’s Instagram @delsur.bakery.
