Chocolates and Italian sodas are coming to a storefront in the city very soon.

The team at Sugartown Sweets & Soda Shoppe is getting ready to introduce their new concept to the community at 117 W Adrian Street. While labeled a candy store, it will also be a spot for locals to socialize while enjoying their soda drinks. Owner Kimberly Precour is hoping to debut the shop around July 15.

A few of the soda flavors that will be offered include raspberry cloud, strawberry basil sparkler, peachy paradise and blackberry mist refresher. Those stopping in can also add any of their flavors to a cream soda. The sweets options are still being evaluated, but bulk candies and specialty chocolates will be available.

“We’re not carrying anything you can find in a grocery,” Precour said.

Precour lived in Seattle for a while, but grew up in Michigan and decided to move back to the state around seven years ago. She initially announced the concept in February, and has since been working on the inside to prepare for the debut. Right now, a bar top is installed, as well as flooring and shelving.

Precour’s business is opening right in the downtown area, sharing the building with Vintage Treasure Store. This is also on the same side of the street as Blissfield Antique Mall. Blissfield is about an hour-and-20-minute drive southwest of downtown Detroit.

The shop should open on time or even before the estimated opening date, per approval from the city health department. More information on Sugartown Sweets can be found on their Facebook page.
