1up Arcade Bar permanently closed its Blake Street location on June 22. The team cited economic challenges as the reason for closure.
The move shifts the concept from Denver’s Lower Downtown entertainment district to Lakewood’s Belmar Shopping District, where the team plans to continue the brand’s next chapter later this year.
1up Arcade Bar’s Original LoDo Location Closes After 15 Years
1up Arcade Bar was one of the first arcade-inspired bars in Denver. Founded in 2011, it offered a full-service bar menu along with a large collection of classic arcade games and pinball machines.
In a social media post, the team shared, “The 1up Arcade Bar’s original LoDo location on Blake Street has officially closed its doors.”
The statement continued that over the years, the bar grew and became a community staple. “It was a place where friendships were formed, birthdays were celebrated, first dates turned into marriages, leagues were built, tournaments were won, and memories were created one game at a time,” said the bar team.
The bar was known for hosting multiple editions of The Kong Off, an international Donkey Kong world championship.
The Legacy Continues
1up Arcade Bar team also plans to open a new location and expand 1up Arcade Bar’s story. “This fall, The 1up Arcade Bar will continue its story in the Belmar Shopping District in Lakewood,” said the bar team. The new location will occupy the former Lucky Strike space.
Even though the LoDo location has closed, the bar will continue to serve its fans with its other locations, including the Colfax and Greenwood Village.
The closure of 1up Arcade Bar marks a significant loss for the Denver gaming and dining community.
