A $24 Million Retail Project Is Planned for San Antonio’s Far Westside

Sam’s Club is planning to expand its San Antonio footprint with a new warehouse club on the city’s Far Westside. The project carries an estimated construction cost of $24 million. The new store will serve the booming residential communities in the area.

Sam’s Club Confirms $24M Store on San Antonio’s Far Westside

A recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) outlines plans for a new Sam’s Club warehouse in San Antonio. The filing identifies a planned warehouse project at 3007 W. Loop 1604 S. #2 in San Antonio.

According to the filing, the estimated cost of the project is $24 million. The construction is expected to begin on November 30, 2026, and expected to be completed by November 2027.

The new warehouse will sit on the rapidly expanding Far Westside of San Antonio. This area has seen significant residential and commercial construction in recent years. The project will increase shopping opportunities for residents and solidify Sam’s Club’s presence in San Antonio.

BRR Architecture is managing the design work at the new store, which will span approximately 166,000 square feet.

Sam’s Club, a division of Walmart Inc., is a membership-only warehouse founded in 1983. Sam’s Club offers groceries, fresh foods, household goods, electronics, furniture, health and wellness products, apparel, and seasonal merchandise.

Sam’s Club also offers services like pharmacy, optical, tire and battery, and fuel stations at select locations. Members can also shop through the company’s digital platforms. Members can also take advantage of services such as Scan & Go, curbside pickup, and home delivery at participating locations.

President and CEO Latriece Watkins leads the Sam’s Club. According to the company, employee development is a key part of its business strategy. According to Sam’s Club, about 75% of the club management team members have come up through the ranks from hourly roles.

The new Far Westside warehouse is another investment in the continued growth of the retailer. The new store is set to open in late 2027. It will bring Sam’s Club’s membership-based shopping to the area.
