Sam’s Club is preparing to expand its footprint in San Antonio with plans for a new warehouse club on the city’s West Side.

According to a recent filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the retailer plans to open a 166,000-square-foot store at 3007 W. Loop 1604 S. The project is estimated to cost $24 million to construct.

Construction is expected to begin on November 30, 2026, with completion currently targeted for November 8, 2027. The filing describes the project as the new construction of a big-box retail store.

Property records list Sams Real Estate Business Trust as the owner, while BRR Architecture, a firm that has designed numerous Sam’s Club and Walmart locations across the country, is serving as the project’s design firm.

Founded in 1983 by Walmart founder Sam Walton, Sam’s Club is a membership-only warehouse retailer offering groceries, fresh produce, household essentials, electronics, furniture, apparel, pharmacy services and fuel. The chain operates hundreds of clubs across the United States and Puerto Rico, serving both individual shoppers and small businesses through bulk purchasing and member-exclusive pricing.

The proposed West Side location would further strengthen the retailer’s presence in the San Antonio market, where it already operates several warehouse clubs.

What Now San Antonio reached out to Sam’s Club for additional information regarding the upcoming location, including its anticipated opening timeline and features. This article may be updated as more information becomes available.
