Local roaster Lofty Coffee is preparing to open another North County location, bringing its beverages and scratch-made bakery items to a new retail development in Carlsbad. According to building permit records filed with the city, the business has been confirmed as a tenant at the upcoming Marja Acres site, located at 4615 Garden Hill Loop.
Lofty Coffee applied for a commercial tenant improvement permit on June 17 for a retail build-out project with an estimated construction valuation of $123,770. It’s expected to open sometime next year.
The coffee company will occupy a nearly 2,000-square-foot space end cap unit. Other local retailers named on leasing documents from Newmark include Ranch and Coast Animal Hospital, Pilates Addiction and Country Marketplace Gourmet Grocer.
This new Carlsbad location will join the company’s existing collection of cafés throughout San Diego County. Founded in 2011, it has locations in Encinitas, Solana Beach, Little Italy, La Costa and State Street, as well as a local roasting facility in Encinitas.
Its boutique coffee and organic juice, chai and almond milk made in-house are complemented by an in-house food program featuring scratch-made pastries, baked goods, breakfast items and lunch offerings. Bakery items, like croissants, muffins and cookies, are made fresh daily.
