Burlington, a national off price retailer offering brand name apparel, accessories, and home merchandise, is opening a new location in El Cajon at 2516 Jamacha Road.
The new Burlington will replace Rite Aid at the Rancho San Diego Shopping Center, according to San Diego Planning and Development Services records. While an exact opening date has not been announced, Burlington currently lists several other stores throughout the San Diego area, with more coming throughout California.
Burlington operates more than 1,000 stores across 46 states and Puerto Rico, according to the company’s website. The retailer began more than 50 years ago as Burlington Coat Factory, selling off-price coats from a factory building in Burlington, New Jersey. The company has since expanded into a broader off-price retailer operating under the Burlington Stores name.
The retailer offers a wide selection of low-priced brand-name merchandise for women, men, kids, and babies, along with accessories and home décor. Burlington describes its business as focused on delivering everyday low prices on top brand-name merchandise. The company also says its stores receive new merchandise regularly as buyers negotiate deals on brands for its locations.
The El Cajon store will add another Burlington to the company’s existing San Diego County footprint. Current locations listed by Burlington include stores in San Diego, Vista, Oceanside, National City, Chula Vista, La Mesa, Spring Valley, and El Cajon. The company’s existing El Cajon location is at 575 Fletcher Parkway.
Additional California locations in development include Bakersfield, Ceres, and Lake Forest, all expected to open on September 25th. At the end of next month, Burlington plans to open even more locations in Colton, Los Angeles, and Whittier. This is just the beginning for the company, as it has 16 new locations opening soon in 12 states.
