It’s a busy summer and fall for retail King Street, as retailers like Granado, Dôen, Emily McCarthy, Palmetto Moon, and Johnnie-O by M. Dumas & Sons, have opened new stores or are planning to soon. In addition to these exciting brands, another retailer is preparing to set up shop this winter: Design Within Reach will open a new showroom at 423 King St. in early 2027, a representative told What Now on Thursday.

Offering a selection of items including indoor and outdoor furniture, lighting, storage, kitchen and dining, bed and bath, rugs, and more, DWR is “giving people access to the best in authentic modern design”—in other words, bringing Design Within Reach.

At Design Within Reach, home comes first — We believe in creating and sourcing pieces that move with you and are meant to be enjoyed over a lifetime – from home to home, generation to generation,” says the DWR website. “For us, that means exceptionally crafted, built-to-last, and beautifully designed furnishings.”

In addition to its selection of home furnishings and other design-forward goods, DWR also offers complimentary interior design services.

“Whether you’re starting from scratch, need one key piece, or a few finishing touches, we’re here to de-stress the design process. Our expert Associates can design room plans, help you choose the best furniture and fabrics for your lifestyle, and show you exactly how it will look in your home with 3D renderings. And it’s all free of charge.”
