In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, What Now Atlanta is taking a reprieve from its normal news coverage to share this heartwarming video.
Midtowners every night at 8 p.m. for the past few days have been clapping and cheering from their balconies to show support for the City’s “essential” workers like healthcare professionals and police, while they shelter in place as ordered by Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms Monday.
“Way to go Midtown!,” Manuel Rodriguez posted to the #IamMidtown Facebook group alongside a recent video of the movement.
“Let’s keep showing our gratitude to health workers in the frontlines. Let’s keep it up. They deserve our appreciation. Every night. 8 p.m. We are in this together.”
The movement was reportedly inspired by the Italians who have been singing with their neighbors while on lockdown.
