A well-known restaurant group is planning to open two hotels in the coming years, including one soon within the King Street shopping district.
Indigo Road Hospitality, known for places like The Cedar Room and Brasserie La Banque, is opening its first hotel in Charleston in Spring 2025, according to the Post and Courier. The 25-room Hotel Richemont on King Street will feature a new Vietnamese restaurant called Two Bit Club, led by executive chef Jesus Tria. The restaurant will serve Southeast Asian dishes with flavors like lychee, lemongrass, and yuzu in a vintage 1940s-1950s style. Two Bit Club will also serve lunch with an open-kitchen concept, allowing diners to watch their meals being made from the bar counter.
The hotel will offer one- and two-bedroom suites, each with a unique design. Some suites even have two stories or balconies. The building has historic touches, like a bank vault door repurposed for the lobby’s bathroom. Despite a few construction delays, Hotel Richemont is set to open by late March, offering visitors great food and a fresh hospitality experience. The name “Richemont” honors a ship that carried French Huguenot refugee families, which landed nearby in Charleston during the period known as Le Refuge. The Two Bit Club also refers to the 1730s French Benevolent Society of the same name, which eventually evolved into the South Carolina Society.
“We wanted to craft each room similarly but different enough to feel like a completely different lodging experience each time you stay,” Gabriel Perez, chief operating officer of lodging at Indigo Road, tells the Post and Courier. “You could stay here five times and experience five different room stays. That is a point of differentiation from the other great options the market offers. We’re eager to offer Charleston a combination of the culinary experience we’re already known for while launching a new hospitality experience here.”
This isn’t the only hotel the group is working on. Indigo Road is expanding its portfolio with several new hotel projects, including one on Daniel Island, where the company is developing a 38-room hotel set to feature a fine dining restaurant, a dock, and private event spaces for guests. The Daniel Island Hotel is slated to open in 2026. Meanwhile, Hotel Richemont marks the first of several new local hotels in the area. Beemok Hospitality Collection’s The Cooper targets a fall 2025 opening, with additional hotel projects set to be completed in North Charleston.
