A new brunch burrito spot is set to roll into Charleston this spring.

Portside Galley, owned by Ali and Dave Spoljaric, will open at 655 Meeting Street.

“Portside Galley was inspired by the coastal places we’ve lived, including U.S. Virgin Islands and Cape Cod, and the lifestyle that comes with being near the water. There’s something about those communities—the pace, the routines, the connection to the harbor—that really stayed with us,” Ali Spoljaric told What Now Charleston.

The name also pays homage to the coast.

“‘Portside’ reflects that harbor-side, coastal feel, while ‘Galley’ is a nod to a ship’s kitchen—small, efficient, and focused on doing a few things really well. That combination felt like a natural fit for what we wanted to create,” she said.

When customers step inside, they will be transported to a maritime-inspired space, featuring subtle textures, natural tones and warm, home-like materials. Although the eatery will focus on takeout, the experience will still feel “thoughtful, cohesive and memorable from the moment you walk up.”

The menu will center on a build-your-own burrito concept for breakfast and lunch. Guests can customize their burritos with fresh ingredients, including a variety of proteins, eggs and housemade toppings.

Alongside the burritos, the shop will offer grab-and-go items, a coffee program and fresh juices.

“We’re really focused on doing one thing well. Instead of a large, overwhelming menu, we’ve built something intentional and streamlined. It’s designed for quality and consistency, but also convenience, whether you’re heading to work, the beach, or just want something quick that doesn’t feel like fast food,” Spoljaric said.

Spoljaric looks forward to serving the downtown Charleston community and becoming a go-to spot for people.

“Seeing something go from an idea to a physical space has been incredibly rewarding. There are so many moving parts behind the scenes, so to watch it all come together and to start sharing that process with the community has been really exciting. Also, building something that people can incorporate into their daily routine is special,” she said.

An official opening date has not yet been announced, but construction is underway with plans to open in late spring. Visit the Portside Galley website and follow along on Instagram for the latest updates.
