Lyra opened its doors Saturday, January 29, Eater Chicago first reported. Posts to the restaurant’s social media confirm the news.
“Today we open our doors and bring the spirit of the Greek Islands to Fulton Market,” according to Lyra’s Facebook announcement over the weekend. “We look forward to welcoming you into our home Chicago.”
The restaurant, at 905 W. Fulton Market, is from DineAmic Hospitality partners David Rekhson and Lucas Stoioff, and is “rooted in the Greek ethos of wellness,” according to the restaurant’s website.
“Lyra will bring fresh, holistic fare to Chicago diners in an earth-toned, indoor-meets-outdoor space,” an about section describes of the restaurant’s origins. “Lyras design will utilize rustic elements of rural Greek landscapes and integrate them into Fulton Market’s contemporary setting.”
In order to “fully execute the vision,” Lyra has partnered with the Greek Chefs duo Athinagoras Kostakos and Alexis Zopas. The menu, which centers around the restaurant’s custom wood and charcoal burning hearth, incorporates “renditions of authentic Greek favorites with locally sourced ingredients.” Dishes range from “comforting and traditional” to lighter Mediterranean fare, and includes several vegetarian options.
Lyra is open from 5 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Wednesday, and from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
