According to a recent article from the Chicago Eater, a new concept called Cariño will be coming to the Uptown area.

A representative of Cariño was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Chicago’s request.

While an official location for Cariño has yet to be confirmed, the article states that the opening for Cariño’s is set to be sometime in November of this year.

Behind the new concept is Chef Norm Fenton, who was also behind Brass Heart for three years prior to its closure. Brass Heart has been described as an intimate 20-seat restaurant on the North side of Chicago. With a tasting menu and a commitment to pushing culinary boundaries, it carved out a niche for itself during its nearly five-year run.

Fenton’s culinary journey led him from his hometown of Detroit to the culinary scene of Chicago in 2016. His initial stop was at the acclaimed Aviary, with dreams of eventually making his mark at the renowned Alinea, according to another article from the Eater.

When it comes to Cariño, the original article stated that it will be a 16-course tasting menu restaurant. One of the highlights at Cariño will be the thoughtfully curated wine pairing featuring Latin American wines. For those looking for something different, there are said to be cocktails crafted from agave spirits, along with a selection of spirit-free drinks and refreshing agua frescas to cater to every guest’s preferences.

Additionally, Eater stated that Chef Fenton understands that some patrons may desire a more casual and late-night dining experience. For them, Cariño will offer an eight-course late-night taco omakase. This option is designed to cater to late-night guests, industry insiders, and anyone seeking a less formal, yet equally delightful, dining experience.
