A second location of the popular restaurant Ja’ Grill will open soon at 1407 S. Washtenaw Avenue. The eatery, helmed by Tony Coates, opened first in Lincoln Park but eventually relocated to Hyde Park. This second brick-and-mortar will open in North Lawndale’s Ogden Commons development, just down the street from Douglas Park and Mt. Sinai Hospital.

And don’t worry if you’re a die-hard fan of the eatery’s Hyde Park spot; according to a Craigslist advertisement, Ja’ Grill the Second will continue to serve the authentic Jamaican and Caribbean cuisine you’ve come to know and love. Ja’ Grill boasts flavors built with ingredients sourced directly from Jamaica and dishes are crafted using traditional techniques.

In addition to signature plates like the Jerk Chicken, a ½ bone-in chicken or wings dry-rubbed with Jamaican jerk herbs and spices, marinated, and finished on a charbroiled grill, and the Curried Goat, tender pieces of goat meat seasoned and marinated, then stewed in a spicy Jamaican curry, you can find a whole array of spirits and craft beers. Classic rum cocktails include the Ja’ Rum Punch, the Dark & Stormy, and the Jamaican Old Fashioned.

Although an opening date has not been announced, you can keep up-to-date on the developments by finding Ja’ Grill on social media.
