Owner Of New Bar Called Elm and State Seeking Space

A new bar and tavern is in the works on the Near North Side.

A new bar/tavern may soon be opening on the corner of W Elm Street and N State Street.

The listed name, Elm & State, is the business applying for space at the building. It is set to be a tavern, but it is not confirmed if this will also have a full-service restaurant. At this same building is Sparrow cocktail bar, as well as Pure Green juice bar.

The listed managing member Jason Freiman is with Footman Hospitality, a holding company that manages Chicago-based bars and restaurants including Bisous, Small Bar, Bangers & Lace, Quality Time and Bucktown Pub an Sparrow which Footman manages. What Now Chicago Previously reported on the company adding Bangers & Lace to their portfolio in February 2024.

The menu is not known right now, and hours of operation have not been confirmed. It will be on the Near North Side, where many bars and restaurants reside. Elm & State would be on the ground floor of the apartment building.

Elm & State has not yet been added to the list of concepts on their website, but an announcement may come soon.
