Upscale steakhouse chain The Capital Grille is expanding to Skokie, located at 4999 Old Orchard Rd.

The new restaurant will move into the former home of McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood & Steaks at the northwest end of Westfield Old Orchard. This will be the only fine dining restaurant in the shopping center, with the only similar restaurant being EJ’s Place across the street. The opening date of this new restaurant is still unknown. What is known is that this will be the 64th location for the restaurant, which is owned by Darden Restaurants. The Capital Grilles can be found in 56 states across 26 states and territories.

Ned Grace founded the Capital Grille in 1990 from Providence, RI. After being owned by Grace’s Bugaboo Creek Steak House Inc. for 27 years, the chain was acquired by Darden Restaurants as a part of a $1.19 billion acquisition of RARE Hospitality in 2007. When the new Skokie location finally opens, guests can expect an elegant interior complimented by mouth-watering classic and contemporary wine-friendly cuisine

“From the moment you step into The Capital Grille, the experience is one of comfortable elegance,” according to their website. “African mahogany paneling and Art Deco chandeliers provide a warm, stately setting for our nationally renowned dry-aged steaks, fresh seafood, and acclaimed world-class wines. With service as gracious as it is attentive, we look forward to impressing you.”
