As this year’s National Western Stock Show just wrapped up, exciting news came from Westword that a new bar is being built on the National Western Complex premises. Coined the Legacy Saloon, the venue will open in time for next year’s event.

One of many lounges coming to the grounds at the 4800 Packing House Road property, it will be on the first floor of the currently under-construction Legacy building. Seven others – Saddle Bar, Spur Bar, Brand Bar, Yard Bar, Stock Show Legends Bar, Rodeo Bar, and the National Western Club Bar — are being constructed on site, but the saloon will be the only one open to the public year-round.

Paul Andrews, President and CEO of the National Western Stock Show told What Now Denver the establishment will have an old-timey saloon feel, with a piano on stage, a tin ceiling, and Stock Show archive items as decor. There will be a full bar and one featured food item: the Legacy Sandwich, tenderloin with a signature horseradish sauce.

“This will be a gathering place for guests to come together and experience a true western bar that pays tribute to our Western Heritage.  We are excited to provide a unique Western experience to the world at the Legacy saloon,” said Pete Coors, Chairman of the Honoring the Legacy Capital Campaign, which is in charge of the campus’s revamp efforts.

The Honoring The Legacy Campaign website states that in addition to the saloon, the Legacy building will feature a club with seating for up to 700 people, a gallery for the entire National Western Art Collection, a 10,000-square-foot conference center, a heritage center to display archives, and new offices for the Western Stock Show Association.
