Playa Bowls continues to enlarge its footprint in the Greater Houston region. The brand is now embarking on bringing a location to Sugar Land. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation permit, the new Playa Bowls is expected to open in the Sugar Land Town Square at 2735 Town Center Blvd. N. Unit R.

Construction on the new Playa Bowls to come to Sugar Land is already underway and was slated to be completed in July, but franchisee Aliyah Slater shared with What Now Houston that the new Playa Bowls should open by this August. With the opening, you can expect a whole lot of excitement.

“We are planning a big grand opening event! Think balloons, DJ, shirt giveaways, and free bowls for the first 50 guests!” Slater said an interview with What Now via email.

“I am so excited about being on Town Center Blvd! It is an area that I frequent every single week. It is surrounded by fantastic shopping, food, Mercer Stadium, and very close to the High school I graduated from.”

The Ranger is bringing one of the first brick-and-mortar Playa Bowls locations to Sugar Land. There are currently 11 in the state of Texas, with just two in the Greater Houston region. But don’t worry, more are coming. The brand recently signed a 14-unit commitment to open 64 franchise shops in the region.

There are now 300 Playa Bowls shops nationwide.

Robert Giuliani and Abby Taylor founded the brand in New Jersey in 2014. Both Guilani and Taylor are Jersey Shore natives and long-time surfers.

“We serve our communities the highest quality, innovative products to support healthier lifestyles and inspire a world of fun, excitement, and togetherness,” the Playa Bowls website reads.

“At Playa Bowls, we LIVE our brand in our actions and in the relationships that we make in our communities. Our focus is to provide a bowl full of deliciousness to every guest, delivered with authenticity and passion for the Playa way.”

What Now also reached out to Playa Bowls COO Julie Klinger to find out more details about the growing chain, but did not hear back by the time of publication.

“Playa Bowls can be described as a delicious, fun, health-focused lifestyle brand centered around fresh açaí bowls, smoothies, and positive energy,” Slater said.

“Our goal is to make it feel like you are on a mini beach vacation every time you step into our store!”

While the açai bowls are the main attraction, they’re not the only draw.

Playa Bowls offers not only bowls, but also smoothiesjuices, and cold brews. But their açai bowls are the bedrock of the brand.

“The Nutella Acai bowl is our most popular bowl. But we have plenty of other amazing bases, including coconut bowls, mango bowls, pitaya bowls, and much more,” Slater said.

“My favorite bowl is the Coco Craze bowl! Its our coconut bowl with granola, pineapple, mango, coconut flakes, and honey. Its AMAZING on a warm day.”

The new Playa Bowls coming to Sugar Land is anticipated to open in the Sugar Land Town Square at 2735 Town Center Blvd. N. Unit R this summer.

“I am so excited to bring this restaurant to my hometown!” Slater said.

“As a Clements High School graduate, I feel so honored to bring Playa Bowls to the same community that I grew up in.”
