904 Purr & Pour Lounge is bringing a different kind of hangout to Jacksonville, where guests will be able to sip a drink, spend time with cats and potentially meet their next furry family member.
The women-owned concept, founded by Heather Jordan and Amanda Crawford, is planned for 1200 Kings Avenue, Suite 1, in Jacksonville. According to the business website, the location is currently listed as ‘coming soon’.
The concept will give guests two spaces to choose from. The main Pour Lounge will offer wine, beer and canned cocktails, while a separate Purr Lounge will be dedicated to time with adoptable cats. The founders are designing the cat lounge with both people and animals in mind, with climbing spaces, enrichment areas and places where cats can retreat when they need some downtime. The idea is to create an environment where cats can interact with visitors on their own terms while getting more exposure to potential adopters.
“We want to create a place people want to return to even when they aren’t necessarily looking to adopt,” Jordan said. “Our ultimate goal is to give adoptable cats greater visibility and more opportunities to find their forever homes.”
That balance is at the heart of 904 Purr & Pour. While adoption will be an important part of the concept, the founders don’t want the lounge to feel like a traditional adoption space. Instead, the goal is to create somewhere people can simply meet up, have a drink and enjoy some time with animals.
Guests can also expect community events, themed nights and other activities as the business works to establish itself as a neighborhood gathering spot. “We want it to become a fun, welcoming gathering place for Jacksonville,” Jordan said.
The location on Kings Avenue was also an intentional choice for the founders. Jordan said the team was drawn to the building’s character, visibility and layout, particularly because it offers enough room to create two distinct experiences while keeping the cats visible as part of the overall concept.
The neighborhood was another draw.
“We also love being part of a neighborhood where people support local businesses and enjoy having places where they can gather and connect. For a concept built around community, rescue and connection, it felt like the right home for us,” she said.
The business has been working toward bringing the idea to life for some time. Earlier this year, 904 Purr & Pour shared that what began as an idea was moving toward reality, with more details to come as the project progressed. The project has also received a zoning exception from the City of Jacksonville allowing beer and wine for on-premises consumption at the Kings Avenue address.
For Jacksonville, 904 Purr & Pour will offer a combination that isn’t exactly your typical night out: a glass of wine in one room, adoptable cats in another and plenty of opportunities to bring the two worlds together.
There isn’t an official opening date just yet.
