Whole Foods is preparing to join the new development taking shape at 355 South Ogden Drive near The Grove and The Original Farmers Market, according to a recent ABC permit filing. The grocer, which currently has a store open nearby at the corner of Third and Fairfax, will be making the transition into the retail space associated with The Daphne, the forthcoming luxury residential development that is slated to open in August at the address.
While an exact timeline for the move has not been announced, Whole Foods is expected to relocate by the end of the year, increasing its footprint.
Whole Foods has been undergoing plenty of changes this year, beginning with a decision by parent company Amazon in January to shutter all its Amazon Fresh locations. The company announced plans to dedicate investment toward Whole Foods Markets instead, with plans to transition some former Amazon Fresh locations into Whole Foods locations and to build 100 new Whole Foods stores over the next few years. One such former Amazon Fresh location that is making the transition to Whole Foods is located in Encino Marketplace, as What Now Los Angeles previously reported.
The Daphne development will offer studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments, as well as a two-story Athletic Club, the Vista Theater Screening Room, a co-working and entertaining lounge, a pool, and the Overlook on the seventh floor feature a terrace and views of the Hollywood Hills.
