Buvette du Dep has officially rebranded its cafe and bar concept to become Alfred Cafe Buvette, operating in Montreal at 300 Rue de la Montagne in Griffintown and 5125 Saint-Laurent Boulevard in the Plateau.

The rebrand introduces “Alfred,” a reference to the cafe’s gnome mascot from Le Petit Dep, and reflects the evolution of the concept into a full-day food-and-beverage destination, according to Silo57. Owner Magda Slezak tells the publication that the updated identity was designed to better align with the cafe’s current offering and clarify its positioning as both a cafe and an evening bar.

Alfred Cafe Buvette now operates across morning, afternoon, and evening service, with a format built around multiple dayparts. The cafe serves coffee, pastries, and lunch items during the day, then transitions into cocktails, wine, and dinner service at night. The concept emphasizes a consistent experience throughout the day rather than a café-only model.

The rebrand also includes a refreshed visual identity and updated menu structure. According to the company, the space now functions as a hybrid cafe, kitchen, and bar designed for both casual daytime visits and evening dining. The Griffintown and Plateau locations continue operating under the same core format with extended hours and expanded service periods.

Menu additions include a new evening food program, homemade sandwiches, and a brunch service now available seven days a week. The cafe continues to focus on morning coffee service, featuring specialty drinks, pastries, and light deli-style items. In the evening, the concept shifts toward a bar-focused experience with cocktails, wine, and hot dishes. The space is designed as a neighborhood gathering spot centered on comfort food and shared plates.

The cafe’s website notes that Alfred Cafe Buvette opens as early as 8 a.m. and transitions to evening service around 4 p.m., reflecting its move toward a broader all-day hospitality concept.
