Real estate solutions company The Hammonds Group has a new project in the works, slated to open later this spring. The group has a coffee shop called Morning Glory Cafe listed as “coming soon” on its Instagram page. It will be located at 1208 Buchanan Street in the Buchanan Arts District.
The spot will be “a heartwarming family-inspired coffee shop,” according to the Instagram announcement. It will be inspired by CEO Corey Hammonds’s 5-year-old daughter Glory.
Hammonds told What Now Nashville that his daughter gave him the idea when she asked for a hot chocolate, which she called “Glory coffee.” He had long planned to add a coffee shop concept into a retail space in The Hammonds Group office building, and this spearheaded the growth of the idea.
“When she said ‘Glory coffee,’ I had a light-bulb moment. I started playing with the name,” Hammonds said.
Eventually, he came up with the name for Morning Glory Cafe and started crafting the concept.
Customers can expect a space with a welcoming atmosphere that will foster creativity and connection. Menu offerings will include handcrafted beverages and homemade baked goods. The Instagram post also teases “surprise menu picks” from Hammond’s daughter.
Hammonds said the space will not only offer traditional coffee shop items, but it will also feature local food curators and function as an art exhibit, where local art will be on sale and displayed along the walls.
“It’s more of a community-based cafe and cultural experience that I’m trying to create,” Hammonds said. “It’s a place where food curators, coffee curators, community and cultural experience all comes together in one space.”
The Hammonds Group aims “to connect, improve and impact the lives of people” through offering real estate services, according to its website. It has locations in both Nashville and Memphis.
As of now, an exact opening date for Morning Glory Cafe is forthcoming. The Instagram announcement says a grand opening date is “TBA.”
