Triplet’s Blue Store is preparing to close its original Baton Rouge location, but the family-owned business says it hopes to reopen nearby.
The restaurant at 605 Mills Avenue will close on July 4. In a Facebook post, the business said the decision was made because of the building’s deteriorating structural condition, adding that it may relocate ‘only a little further down the street’.
Established in 2000, Triplet’s Blue Store earned its nickname after the building was repainted blue by the owners’ mother. While the property was originally painted light blue and yellow in tribute to Southern University’s Jaguars, customers soon began referring to it simply as ‘The Blue Store’ – a name that has become synonymous with the business.
The restaurant is best known for its fried chicken, with customers also flocking to the eatery for shrimp fried rice, potato logs and other comfort-food favorites. Over the years, Triplet’s Blue Store has built a loyal following, attracting both Baton Rouge locals and visitors from across Louisiana.
