A popular hair salon is adding a new cut to its New York City footprint.
Fox & Jane, co-founded by Lorean Cairns, will debut its latest location at 235 W. 19th St. in Chelsea. The new salon will join the brand’s existing New York locations in the Bowery, East Village, Lower East Side and Brooklyn.
Beyond its New York footprint, the salon also has locations across New Jersey, Colorado and internationally in Canada.
“Chelsea was a neighborhood we didn’t conquer yet. It felt like the right move because of the demographics, the energy, the vibe. It matches the friendly and welcoming approach we have,” brand manager and head of expansion Ariana Grillo told Whatnow New York City.
The upcoming salon will be managed by partner Kristin Rankin.
Services include cuts for all hair types, from short to long, along with color maintenance, specialty colors, revitalizing and keratin treatments, extensions and various styling services.
The interior will capture the signature Fox & Jane essence, while the team tailors the design to each specific location.
“Part of what we do is keep the soul and energy of each neighborhood, making it unique. This location is going to be quite modern, romantic. It’s going to be the most different one in terms of design compared to the rest of Fox & Jane locations,” Grillo said.
Fox & Jane plans to debut in November.
Maeve in June
Fox & Jane isn’t the only shop expanding. The team also operates a sister location, Maeve in June, which is currently moving from 154 Orchard St. to 195 Chrystie St. on the Lower East Side. The original location will remain in operation until the new location opens.
The salon is managed by partner Sahar Hissami and offers the same services, while leaning more fashion-and trend-forward with a luxe aesthetic.
“She’s really interested in being the ‘it salon’ of New York, so we’re really going bold with her space. It’s a glossier vibe—it’s pink, it’s modern, it’s fun, it’s fresh,” Grillo said.
Maeve in June plans to reopen in December.
Grillo looks forward to the growth of both brands.
“The most exciting part is we continue to grow because we do it in a way where it’s personal. It’s always exciting to work with each individual partner and learn their stories and goals,” she said.
The team already has additional New York City expansion plans in the pipeline for 2027.
