Slice Beer Co, the Lincoln-based craft brewery that has quietly become one of the most respected names in the Sacramento-area beer scene, is heading to Roseville. Co-founder and president Russ Yeager confirmed to What Now Sacramento that the brewery is targeting a September opening at 40 Atlantic Street in Roseville, marking the brand’s first expansion beyond its original Lincoln taproom.
Founded in 2019 by Yeager and head brewer Zach Frasher, Slice built its reputation fast. Frasher, a former head brewer at Moonraker Brewing in Auburn, made national waves in 2017 when he created a triple IPA that beat Russian River Brewing’s Pliny the Younger at the prestigious Double and Triple IPA competition at The Bistro in Hayward. In 2020, Slice became the first brewery to win people’s choice for both the double and triple IPA categories at that same festival, a remarkable feat for a taproom that was barely a year old.
The move is a natural one since Slice has deep roots in Roseville, Yeager also serves as marketing director for Old Town Pizza, which operates a location in the city and is currently transforming the historic former post office on Vernon Street into a three-level restaurant and rooftop bar. The two brands have long been neighbors and collaborators, and the Roseville expansion brings Slice closer to the community that helped shape it.
The existing Lincoln taproom is located at 665 6th Street. Details on the full Roseville taproom layout and menu are still to come ahead of the September opening.
