A major warehouse renovation is underway in New Braunfels as Walmart prepares to invest millions to upgrade its existing distribution facility along Interstate 35.
According to My SA the retail store plans to renovate approximately 97,000 square feet of its distribution center located at 3900 N. Interstate 35 Frontage Road in New Braunfels. The project, listed as “Warehouse PH5 Remodel,” carries an estimated construction cost of $8 million.
Plans call for the installation of new material-handling equipment, along with electrical upgrades, fire suppression improvements, and updates to compressed-air systems. The work is classified as an alteration project and will take place within the existing facility rather than as a building expansion.
Construction is expected to begin in August 2026 and continue through September 2027. The project is privately funded and will be completed on private property.
Located between San Antonio and Austin, New Braunfels has become a key hub for industrial and logistics development in recent years. The city’s position along the Interstate 35 corridor has attracted significant investment from companies seeking efficient access to major Central Texas markets.
Walmart’s distribution center has operated in the area for years, supporting the retailer’s supply chain and regional operations. The planned upgrades are expected to modernize equipment and improve operational efficiency within the facility.
