A recent filing shows that Nutmeg Bakery and Cafe is planning a new permanent location at 4120 Napier Street, Suite A & B, which is currently in review, according to public records. The bakery and cafe center on offering gluten-free bakery and lower-sugar desserts and aim to create a welcoming neighborhood environment for its guests.
The new location spans approximately 2,340 square feet, suggesting it will be a full-service bakery and cafe. The surroundings in the Bay Park area have seen increased development in recent years.
The space is owned by Drew and Michka Hoffos, and Shirin Soroushian, and originally began offering espressos and a limited selection of house-made items. Then, in 2018, they were approached by a landlord in Scripps Ranch to open their first brick-and-mortar location at the Scripps Poway Parkway Center, as Hoffos told SDVoyager.
Then, in 2024, a new sustainable location was opened in Poway at 13771 Danielson Street.
A third location was planned for Casa Mira View Apartments, with an expected opening in early 2022, expanding into a residential zone, as What Now San Diego initially confirmed with co-owner Drew Hoffos. However, those plans ultimately fell through, and the bakery is now opening its third location on Napier Street.
The planned location places the bakery 20 minutes south of its existing site, making it the company’s southernmost.
