After opening a handful of popular concepts throughout San Diego, two local business owners are preparing to officially launch Brisa Restaurant & Bar in Little Italy at 2101 Kettner Blvd.

The new restaurant will move into the former home of Zinque, according to a recent liquor license application that was first reported on by SanDiegoVille. This is the latest from Marco Provino and Vincenzo Loverso, the latter of San Diego Dining Group. The two have worked together on the openings of Rusticucina, Allegro, and Osteria Cotto e Mangiato. Now, they are working on Brisa, open seven nights a week, offering dinner with a fusion of Latin flavors, crafted cocktails, and sushi. All of this is set against a boho-chic decor featuring a stylish patio lounge. The new concept is expected to open in Spring 2025, although the reports have this restaurant opening as soon as either March or April.

Provino and Loverso have previously collaborated on opening several nearby restaurants, but each brings decades of experience to this new venture. Provino’s passion for cooking began young in Bagheria, Sicily. After graduating from culinary school, he took his first chef position in Palermo. After moving to the United States, he became the executive chef in the bustling Gaslamp District. Provino partnered with his wife, Karina Kravalis, to open Giardino Neighborhood Cucina in Lemon Grove.

Loverso, on the other hand, has ownership in a diverse portfolio of local establishments, including Greystone The Steakhouse, Osetra The Fishhouse, Osteria Panevino, The Butcher’s Cut, Farmer’s Table, Zama, Vincenzo Cucina, Roman Wolves Cucina Romana, AKA Asian Fusion, and the recently opened Romanisso in the Gaslamp. Together with chef Provino, they aim to create a one-of-a-kind dining experience in the ever-evolving Little Italy. General Manager and Partner Jennifer Reinhart will also help bring Brisa to life. The team eventually hopes to introduce additional offerings, such as a weekend brunch.
