Stitch Cafe is preparing to relocate after its Capitol Hill storefront lost its lease, prompting owner Sarah Chae to begin looking for a new location for the business.
The café, located at 1408 E. Pine St., announced that its current location would close after the building’s owner decided to sell the property. To help cover moving and relocation expenses, Chae has launched a fundraising campaign.
Originally opened in 2024, Stitch Cafe is a coffee shop with a dedicated space for knitting, crocheting, and other fiber arts. In addition to serving coffee, tea, and baked goods, the café hosts classes, craft nights, and meetups for knitters and crocheters.
The business has faced operational challenges since opening, including construction delays, unexpected buildout costs, long-term scaffolding outside the storefront, and ongoing HVAC issues. The uncertainty surrounding the building’s sale ultimately led the owner to begin planning a move.
Chae hopes to relocate Stitch Cafe and continue operating it as a gathering place for Seattle’s knitting and crochet community.
A new location and opening timeline have not yet been announced. What Now Seattle will update this article as soon as more information becomes available.
