Flame Ramen is getting ready to make some big changes to its restaurants in Memphis, starting with opening a new location at 61 S. Second St.
The company, which is owned by a group in Chicago, already has locations in Midtown and Cordova, but the latter recently temporarily closed with plans to rebrand to a new restaurant, according to the Daily Memphian. Now operations manager Will Weng tells What Now Memphis Flame Ramen is working on a new location in Downtown Memphis, expected to open in mid-September 2023. He hopes this site will help elevate the demand created by the location on Union Avenue.
When this new Flame Ramen opens, it will be the second in the area, with the Cordova site rebranding to a new restaurant called Petals of a Peony, focusing on traditional Chinese fare. Flame Ramen will continue to offer delicious ramen, such as the Vegan Paradise Ramen, made with soft, fresh noodles, tofu, scallions, vegetable gyoza, corn, and wood ear mushrooms. The restaurant also offers other Asian-influenced dishes, including seafood fried rice.
The new location will be perfect for Flame Ramen, considering how much foot traffic runs through the area. Another reason why this will be a great spot for the company’s new second location is because of the limited ramen options nearby. Despite there being plenty of Asian and seafood-inspired restaurants, none of them focus specifically on ramen. The closest competitor will be Kame Ramen Bar in East Memphis.
